With Peter confined to the ICU, Alan, Jordan, and Walker get their first look at what little is left of two scientists who have already died. As Daniel oversees Doreen’s examination of the animal testing lab, Walker questions Hatake about Peter’s research. While reviewing his brother’s video diary for clues, Alan notices a subtle hand sign from Peter that he interprets as a warning to get away from the lab as fast as possible. Once Peter regains consciousness, Alan and Jordan are stunned when he breaks loose from his restraints and threatens to infect them before escaping into the ventilation ducts. After Doreen finds Daniel lied about not using monkeys in their research, Balleseros helps her seal off what she’s sure was the primate lab. But once he’s alone, Balleseros prepares to establish contact with someone on the outside using a portable satellite dish assembled near a spot where many lab monkeys froze as they tried to escape. While looking for Peter, Alan comes across the body of a dead security guard who’s missing a hand. As Hatake orders Daniel to find the killer, back in their lab, Jordan and Walker isolate the rapidly mutating virus. Finally, as Peter uses the security guard’s severed hand to circumvent the lab’s security system, Balleseros warns Hatake that their secret project is in danger of being exposed.
